Psilocin interferes with human neurotransmission as it binds agonistically to 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)<sub>2A<\/sub> and to 5-HT<sub>1A<\/sub> receptors. These <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/34063505\/#&amp;gid=article-figures&amp;pid=figure-5-uid-4\">serotonin receptors<\/a> are a group of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and ligand-gated ion channels of the central and peripheral nervous systems.
